Healing and self-discovery through movement and awareness
Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance to support the integration of emotional, cognitive, physical, and social aspects of a person.
It is based on the understanding that body and mind are interconnected, and that movement reflects and influences the way we think, feel, and relate to others.
Through movement, individuals can express emotions that may be difficult to put into words, explore patterns of relating, and develop new ways of being that support growth and well-being.
DMT is recognized internationally as a form of creative arts psychotherapy, practiced by trained professionals who integrate psychological theory, somatic awareness, and creative movement processes.
At Dance Movement Space in Vienna, you’ll be guided through gentle movement explorations, grounding exercises, and creative flow that help you:
🌿 Release tension and stress stored in the body
🌿 Feel more present, calm, and connected
🌿 Improve body awareness and inner balance
🌿 Awaken creativity and authentic self-expression
🌿 Find a safe space to feel, breathe, and simply be
Tools I use
Body awareness & breath work – tuning into sensations, posture, and energy flow.
Movement improvisation – exploring spontaneous movement as self-expression.
Mirroring & attunement – reflecting another’s movement to deepen understanding and connection.
Movement analysis (inspired by Laban/Bartenieff) – observing qualities of movement to understand emotional states and relational dynamics.
Imagery and symbolism – using metaphor and imagination to access deeper layers of experience.
Verbal reflection – integrating insights from the movement process into conscious awareness.
