1–1 Dance Movement Therapy in Vienna

Private, body-based therapy in english

I offer individual 1–1 Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) sessions in Vienna.
Dance Movement Therapy is a body-based therapeutic approach that works with movement, bodily awareness, and emotional experience — especially when words alone are not enough.
Sessions take place in a private, confidential therapeutic setting, guided in English, and are carefully paced according to your needs and capacity.

What is somatic, body-based therapy?

Somatic, body-based therapy pays attention to how experiences are felt and expressed through the body, often before they can be clearly named in words. Stress, emotions, and relational patterns may show up as tension, numbness, restlessness, or a sense of being disconnected from oneself. By gently noticing and working with these bodily responses, somatic therapy supports self-regulation, emotional awareness, and a greater sense of presence.

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is an internationally recognised body-based therapeutic modality. In many countries, it is classified as a form of body-based psychotherapy, working with the connection between body, emotions, and mind. In individual sessions, movement is used therapeutically — not as performance — and is always guided by choice, safety, and the therapeutic relationship.

You don’t need to “dance” — the focus is on listening to the body,
not performing.

What a 1–1 session looks like

Each session is adapted to your pace, capacity,
and nervous system

  • gentle movement or stillness

  • body awareness and grounding

  • breath and sensory exploration

  • verbal reflection

No choreography. No performance. No dance experience needed.

Sessions take place in Vienna (Austria), in a calm, private setting.

How this differs from talk therapy

Talk therapy often focuses on understanding experiences through words and reflection. While this can be helpful, many people notice that stress, emotions, or reactions continue to live in the body — even when they understand their patterns intellectually.

Somatic, body-based therapy works bottom-up, supporting change through bodily awareness, movement, sensation, and nervous system regulation. Words may be part of the process, but they are not the primary driver.

This work is especially suited for people who feel “stuck” despite insight.
